A European energy/utility Company asked us to develop a system which permits climbing masts, provides complete protection for working on cross-arms and which incorporates a simple mechanism to lower safely a person who is hanging freely suspended after a fall.
Permanent vertical safety cables and rails were not desired. They are too costly, inspection-intensive and most of all, they do not provide protection against fall at the cross-arm. Typically, this is the place where most falls occur.
We developed a device which protects lead climbers (first man-up) and all other climbers and which arrests multiple falls even when a persons weight exceeds 100kg/220lbs.
ORCA can be used as a fall arrest device and a rescue pulley system with speed-dependent reverse lock for access and rescue situations.
